Project Food Drive’s 2023 online appeal sought contributions to buy staple foods for families in Shahristan, Daikundi. The initial target was 100 households, with an ambition to reach 150 if enough funding became available.

The published plan listed rice, flour, cooking oil and pasta. It described a package intended to help a family of four with food for about a month, at a planned cost of $107. Any additional contributions after the food distribution were intended for medication.

The organizer planned to transfer funds to trusted contacts in Afghanistan, who would buy supplies in Kabul and transport them to the village. The project page says labor, transport and transaction fees would be covered personally by the organizer.

How the project was organized

Fundraising took place online ahead of Eid.
Local contacts were to identify households with limited access to food or agricultural income.
Food was to be purchased in Kabul, transported to the village and distributed on a set date.
The campaign committed to sharing distribution photographs and updates.
